Dixie Labels & Systems, Inc. was created from two smaller companies in November of 1991. Both men came together with a common philosophy of wanting to “out service” all other label convertors, which is still the standard policy today at DLS. Joe Buckley started Dixie Ticket & Labels of TN in 1988. He brokered through other label convertors and his business grew rapidly. He knew the market was growing and was looking to purchase equipment in order to produce labels in house. During this period he met Rusty Baxley who had purchased a label convertor in Chattanooga in 1990. Dixie Labels & Systems, Inc. started with two 40 year old presses. Dealing with limited capital the new partners ran several orders on the older equipment to help finance their first new press, a four color Webtron 750, which is still in operation today.

The company experienced double digit growth each year throughout the 90’s. Rusty ran production and Joe worked to bring in the sales. DLS continued to grow and employed 28 people by the late 90’s. In 1994 they purchased a six color 13” Aqua Flex press which opened up new market opportunities in printed labels. The next big step was to bring prepress and plate making in house to better serve their customers and in 1996 they purchased their first prepress system and plate maker. The goal of each purchase at DLS has the underlying goal of providing our customers better service and this new system helped them to achieve even faster service to their customers. By the year 2000 DLS had out grown their building and system and they purchased a facility to meet their current needs as well as their future growth. They also invested in the industries top Flexo software package which enabled them to bring production and operations under one system. This helped them to provide up to the minute order status to customers plus improve their order accuracy. In 2002 they added a five and six color Webtron 750 press and in 2005 they invested in an eight color Mark Andy 13″ press which has helped elevate our quality, capabilities and service level. Recently DLS has installed a digital prepress system to help us excel in the prime label market as well as adding cold foil capabilities to our Mark Andy press.
